How many people do you think realize this? Now ask yourself: What is leadership and why is leadership the most overlooked ingredient of success?
It's because most people look for guidance outside of themselves; searching for leadership to emerge from titles and positions instead of looking for and developing the leader within.
So, the question you have to ask yourself is, how well are you leading you? Dr. Henry developed the revolutionary Lived Leadership™ Methodology that will help you both answer that question and be a better you by liberating the leader within you!
Lived Leadership™ is the copyrighted, personal leadership methodology that is a brilliant, unique simplification of his in-depth analysis of the top studies, theories, and approaches to traditional leadership.
Created by Dr. Sean Mandell Henry, a powerful leadership speaker Cincinnati Ohio introduced to the world a few years ago, Lived Leadership™ is a leadership lifestyle that functions in the reality that...
Dr. Henry's Lived Leadership™ Methodology does not validate leadership based upon organizational titles or positional authority.
It validates leadership by the collective presentation of personal lived experiences derived from the accumulation of attributes from three interrelated dispositions to develop dormant, unused, and/or undiscovered personal potential that liberates the leader within.
Lived Leadership™ produces a reflective presentation of one's personal interactions to prompt one to lead themselves (or heed the advice of another) and make a positive difference in the lives of others.
Simply put, if one is going to teach and talk about it, then they should have, at the least, lived it.
"As a child, my parents, James and Jerrie Henry, noticed inherited characteristics, gifts, and talents in me that were both unique and in desperate need of cultivation.
At five years of age, my formal education began, as I was enrolled in a speech therapy school to help train my tongue to overcome an inherited family characteristic of speaking with an uncontrolled southern drawl.
Although this initial ‘learning to speak correctly’ experience embarrassed and discouraged me due to one of the most painful memories and results of student ridicule, one teacher wiped my eyes and said, “It’s going to be all right. You did well!”
This was when I fell in love with..."
Lived Leadership™ emerged from the leadership research of Dr. Sean Mandell Henry, one of the most powerful leadership speakers Cincinnati Ohio has cultivated, as he studied the leadership attitudes and behaviors of American college presidents with five (5) of the nation’s top college presidents.
Dr. Henry discovered that leadership studies, research, and literature were grounded in an undisclosed allegiance and unofficial alignment to Aristotle’s (384–322 B.C.E.) leadership development observation, “He who cannot be a good follower cannot be a good leader,” as foundational.
Although Aristotle’s leadership development observation contains truth, Dr. Henry discovered a consistent omission:
That only a section of individuals who had specific titles or positional authority were being identified as a “leader” to be observed.
All others were considered “followers” not worthy of leadership observation and were never considered to have leadership qualities in comparison to those who were being observed as a “leaders.”
Nearly all of leadership and leadership speaking literature assumes the deferential relationship between the leader, and the follower is the only way to develop oneself into a leader.
Unfortunately, this assumption neglects the development of the dormant potential within to place a person on the pathway to transforming themselves into a leader.
So, upon further research, Dr. Henry discovered gaps in the leadership research that did not recognize the leadership experiences of former followers; those observed prior to becoming qualified to be observed as a leader through title possession or positional authority...
...and Lived Leadership™ was born!
"Dr. Henry has a clear and compelling message that is well-structured and well-delivered. He shares leadership insights with simplicity, demonstrates a high level of integrity and honesty, and expects the same from others. Dr. Henry’s intimate understanding of leadership theories, leadership attitudes, and leadership behaviors are impressive, leading to new insights that will redefine emerging aspects of leadership research for years to come.”
Stop what you're doing and ask yourself:
Because the question Dr. Henry asked himself consistently was, 'Are those individuals speaking about leadership speaking from a place of reading and research, or actual living?'
See, the lived experiences of a person, regardless of credentials, education, titles, or positional authority, contain all the proof necessary that leadership qualities within that person were already demonstrated.
So it wasn't a surprise that, as Dr. Henry facilitated leadership seminars, he noticed that participants were disconnected with the
traditional leadership presentations that were lightly sprinkled with leadership terminology and loosely grounded in reputable, researched leadership literature.
So, unlike traditional leadership presentations, Dr. Henry's designed his brilliant, alternative Lived Leadership™ Methodology and keynote presentations to...
...and all without the formalities of academic credentials!
1.) What are some key qualities or traits that effective leaders possess?
2.) How does effective communication contribute to successful leadership?
3.) Can leadership skills be developed, or are they primarily innate?
Being a great leader or even a leadership speaker requires effective communication, inspiring others through actions and integrity, strong decision-making, fostering collaboration, and continuous personal and professional growth.
"Dr. Henry is a creative and innovative speaker who always surprises and delights our organization with personal insights and experiences. He is a natural, intuitive, and confident leader who inspires respect and confidence in others who hear him and work with him. Dr. Henry’s leadership research is cutting edge, high-quality, and includes the attributes of leaders that have been intentionally omitted for decades."
Interconnection is the disposition where authentic connection between people occurs.
Lived Leadership™ embraces every interaction as an opportunity to connect with others, and an opportunity to develop a safe space where the interconnection of leadership behaviors takes place.
Instead of the “Leader to Follower” relationship in which leadership literature is rooted, Lived Leadership™ embraces a “Leader to Leader” interconnection that develops leadership behaviors, specifically for all individuals involved, simultaneously, with mutual respect.
The interconnection guides these leaders into intentional leadership interactions that stimulate situations where relationships are built, trust is developed, and maturity engaged for authentic development of leadership behaviors to occur.
It also engages the reality that one must be connected to oneself before being connected to others. In other words, one must lead themselves before they can lead others.
This helps a budding leader to understand that connecting with others forms the relationships necessary to develop the dormant leadership potential within...
...and to connect with opportunities to demonstrate good leadership attributes with others organically and authentically.
2.) Introspection:
Introspection is the disposition where authentic reflection within oneself occurs.
Lived Leadership™ embraces the ability to approach oneself with integrity, asking relevant reflective questions to process and examine one's thoughts, intentions, decisions, perceptions, emotions, beliefs, and other relatable attributes.
Introspection develops the energy necessary to apply learned lessons from lived experiences to make positive changes, bringing to life the opportunity to implement reflections from the question:
“If I had it to do over again, what would I do differently?”
The process of introspection identifies personal strengths to refine and growing edges to liberate the leader within, developing self-awareness, self-regulation, self-confidence, self-motivation, self-learning, and self-improvement.
3.) Inner-direction:
Inner-direction is the disposition where authentic leadership direction within oneself occurs.
Lived Leadership™ embraces the ability to develop self-direction, leading oneself towards desired outcomes. In this disposition, the reality “As I live, I am a leader” is reinforced, leading to the development, solidification, and harnessing of effective leadership.
Inner-direction continually reinforces the reality to both discern the dormant potential within and decide to develop that dormant potential, liberating the leader within and developing the ability to decide to lead themselves, or to heed the advice of another.
"Dr. Henry is a courageous and resilient speaker who faces challenges and risks with optimism and determination.” Dr. Henry is a grateful and humble leader who acknowledges the contributions of others and expresses appreciation. As I mentored him, I observed his demonstration of effective leadership attributes and his amazing ability to communicate complex leadership theories simply to his listeners. Dr. Henry embodies the qualities of the movement my we led and lived."
Dr. Henry's Lived Leadership™ Methodology interrelates each disposition to ensure that each disposition enhances one other.
It interrelates the first Disposition of Interconnection to sustain the leadership attitude that all people are connected to each other in some way, and that our actions, emotions, and choices affect those around us and have consequences for ourselves and others.
Interconnection can be seen as a form of awareness of the relationships and dependencies that exist between different people. It can foster empathy, compassion, and social support, but it can also lead to conflict, stress, and isolation if we are not aware of how we impact others or how they impact us.
Lived Leadership™ then interrelates the second Disposition of Introspection to sustain the leadership attitude that the process of looking inward and examining one’s own thoughts, feelings, judgments, and perceptions is essential to leadership.
Introspection can help us gain self-awareness, self-insight, and self-regulation, but it can also be biased, inaccurate, or unproductive if we are not careful about how we do it.
And finally, it interrelates the third Disposition of Inner-direction to sustain the leadership attitude that each person has an inner source of guidance and motivation that shapes both their decisions and actions.
Inner-direction can be seen as a form of autonomy that allows us to act according to our values, beliefs, and goals, rather than external pressures or expectations, and, in turn, actually live leadership.
The interrelated dispositions of the Lived Leadership™ Methodology liberate the leader within to develop:
